My entire career as a Chartered Accountant has been in public practice. After articling with a prominent firm in New Westminster I joined a sole practitioner in Richmond in 1971, the year after becoming a Chartered Accountant. I have remained in practice in Richmond for over 35 years, forming my own firm in 1975 that has evolved into the present partnership.

The most rewarding part of my career is meeting and dealing with a wide range of individuals and assisting them in solving problems. I am fortunate in having a very capable team to assist me in my work.

I have lived in various Vancouver area communities and have now settled in Delta! I have been married 37 years to Gabie and have raised two sons and a daughter.

Gabie and I love to travel and try to take at least two holidays a year to various countries. I am a die-hard sports fan and follow the Yankees, Habs, Packers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders!

Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, I completed my Bachelor of Administration degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1972.

I then moved to Vancouver and articled with a large local C.A. firm, receiving my Chartered Accountant designation in 1975. After working in industry for three years, I joined Lyle in his firm in 1979.

During the 70’s I articled in Chartered Accountancy and graduated as a CA in Vancouver with Clarkson, Gordon, Chartered Accountants, became the proud father of a boy and girl and was hired as the CFO of a large retail company in Western Canada.

The 80’s flew by working on my career and going to soccer and baseball games with my wife and kids.

It was the mid 1990’s when I decided to leave the employment of others and venture out into the business community in public practice. I joined Lyle Dickson and Peter Stojak in 1997 rounding out the firm’s name to Dickson, Stojak, Brown CA’s. The same year saw my oldest child Rob marry and settle down with his new wife Debbie. It was late 1997 when the firm launched its new RAN ONE Business Development Division which has grown steadily and to which I have concentrated my efforts.

You will find me working on and in my business helping to add business value to my clients businesses and at every opportunity boating in the Gulf Islands on my 35’ powerboat.

Three major events happened to me during the 60’s:

I graduated in Economics from the University of Manitoba, joined IBM as a marketing representative and met and married my wonderful wife Janice.

I enjoy the personal contact in working with clients assisting them with business planning and taxation matters. In recent years I have trained extensively in business development activities to help clients in all aspects of managing their business activities. I have also been fortunate to be involved in many sales and purchases of businesses and have developed expertise in this complex area.

My childhood years were spent mostly in Surrey and after living in Delta for 28 years I recently moved back to Surrey. Fern and I were married in 1966 and have raised two daughters and numerous pets. With the kids now grown we are able to spend time working on our golf handicaps or touring in our restored Triumph TR6 roadster or more recent vintage Corvette coupe.
